What I am working on at the moment, rather than everything I have done. If the date above is more than a few months old, assume something has moved on.

01 · Opus, at AppliedAI

I am a Member of Technical Staff at AppliedAI in Abu Dhabi, working on Opus, the system that generates, checks and runs enterprise workflows. The question I am spending most time on is the one in Proof-Carrying Streamed Workflow Graphs, published in August: how to let agents, services and people build a workflow a piece at a time without any single addition removing the last acceptable way to finish it.

I presented that work at ICMAI 2026 at Nazarbayev University in Astana in September, and wrote three posts on the same ideas for the Opus blog: why locally valid steps need not leave a viable workflow, the Work Knowledge Graph, and the gardening that keeps it current.

02 · Control under delegated authority

Alongside Opus runs a line in supervisory control theory about what happens once decisions are delegated to agents: permitting exactly the actions that keep an acceptable outcome reachable, through a fixed set of permissions, and doing so when the authority to refuse an action changes as the system runs. The first two papers, on fixed actuator interfaces and on history-dependent veto authority, came out in July and August.

03 · Life support, at Galactic Bioware

At Galactic Bioware the work is keeping a breathable atmosphere where nobody can step outside for air. The latest paper gives exact formulas for how long a venting two-gas atmosphere can last on finite reserves; it follows the earlier design of an AI-controlled breathing loop for firefighting suits.

04 · Teaching

I am a Visiting Professor at the National University “Kyiv Aviation Institute”, where I gave the open lecture on AI in international business and co-wrote the study of manipulative narratives in the war in Ukraine.

05 · This site

Every paper now has a plain-English explainer, and every filmed talk a page of its own. The photo archive and the family history are added to as time allows.

This is a now page, an idea of Derek Sivers: a short account of what someone is focused on at this point, kept current, as against an about page that records everything.
